Mysore Dasara Festival Essential Guide to

Mysore Dasara Dussehra with a Difference! Real Heritage city says the festival celebrated on a large scale complex. In Mysore, Dussehra Chamundeswari honors the goddess who killed the great demon Mahishasur.

If Mysore Dasara?

Unlike other parts of India, where Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the festival one day Mysore Dasara Navaratri developed. In 2014, Mysore Dasara begins Sept. 25 and ends Oct. 4.

Where does it take place?

In the royal city of Mysore in Karnataka. Events at various locations in the city, including theaters, Mysore Palace, Mysore Palace Exhibition Park against Maharaja College field and Chamundi Hill.

How is it celebrated?

Mysore Palace is illuminated with dazzling about 100,000 light bulbs every evening from 19 hours to 22 hours, during the Dussehra festival. Many shows take place with music and dance in the palace and elsewhere. There is also a Food Festival, Film Festival, Heritage Walk, rings, and local attractions.

Another attraction is the exhibition that begins during the Dussehra festival and lasts for about three months. There are stalls selling all kinds of handicrafts, clothes and other ornaments as well as games and rides. It takes place in the soil exposure Doddakere Maidan Mysore Palace.

But the main attraction on the last day of the festival. A traditional procession Dussehra (known Jumboo Savari) winds through the streets of Mysore Palace and finishing in Bannimantap. It has an idol of the goddess Chamundeshwari, set on richly decorated elephants. At night there is a torchlight procession in Bannimantap scene on the outskirts of the city. Highlights include fireworks, daredevil stunts on motorcycles, and a laser show.

Mysore Dasara is free?

Many of the events that occur in the context of Mysore Dasara, are free. However, gold cards are sold. This offer special privileges for tourists, such as free entry to 11 attractions and high-end seats in the Grand Final Parade Jumboo Savari procession and a flashlight. Gold Cards are priced at Rs 7500 for two adults and a child of six years and is bought on the website of Mysore Dasara online. Tickets are also sold separately for the procession and torchlight procession (500 rupees).
