What you need to know about traveling in North ...

Distance Northeast India remains relatively untouched by development. It is a paradise for those who like to think outside the box, and distinctive tribal culture is very different from the rest of India.

But travel in Northeast India can be exhausting. If you are planning a trip, there are some things you should know before you go.

  • Permissions: Although licensing requirements were eased somewhat in recent years to promote tourism, some states require still allowed. There are different requirements for permits for Indians and foreigners. Obtain such approval can be difficult and confusing, especially when the Indians and foreigners who want to travel together. Government rules are not clear, and there is a general lack of knowledge about the process. Therefore, the best way to go about getting permits through a tour operator.

  • Tour Operator: There is evidence of many tour operators in the websites of the government and other tourism. However, the information is often outdated or unnecessary. Gone are some tour operators, others do not respond and other routes will force you, even if they say they offer personalized tours. One of the most useful operators, I recommend Kipepeo is.

  • Itineraries: Do not underestimate the time it takes to travel to the north-east. You may find that tour operators offer day trips 13-21 for most of the northeast. It's just not possible. It may be possible to the distance in terms, but the reality is quite different. Most of the roads are in poor condition, it is dark earlier, remained in many places in the middle or at the end of the afternoon, and unforeseen circumstances (strikes, curfews, roadblocks, tribal feuds and time) are common.

  • Infrastructure: Infrastructure is poor in the Northeast. You will encounter power outages, lack of running water and habitability. If you are traveling in winter, the nights are cold and eating disorders means that the heaters do not work. If you are a woman, be ready to ask a lack of restrooms.

  • Accommodation: If possible, select the host families. Not only will you generate support for local families, income, foster families are often managed in a professional manner as hotels. In addition to the disappointing quality hotels, hotels (especially in Nagaland) are not able to hold your reservation and enter the room with other guests.

  • Where do you go to Assam and Meghalaya are visiting the simplest States and have the best infrastructure. No license or registration of the Indians or foreigners in these countries. Nagaland is being developed as a tourist destination, but the roads are in poor condition. Arunachal Pradesh is perhaps the most difficult to achieve due to attend its license requirements and status.
