Nag Panchami, the festival of snakes, is not for the faint hearted! The festival is all about the cult of snakes that are specially excavated and collected for the occasion. On the day of Nag Panchami, the villagers dance to the music and snakes in jars on their heads in procession to the temple. After the rituals are complete, the snakes from the pots and the priest sprinkles haldi-kumkum Temple (turmeric and red powder) and raised flowers on her head.
