ot many people can say that their garden is the Goa backwaters. However, Pirkko and Savio Fernandes (and their two adorable children) are among the lucky ones who can. And fortunately for the rest of us, they decided to start to share our paradise open a host family in the year of 2010.
Olaulim backyards bordering the backwaters and is full of tropical jungle. As you can imagine, this is not for the ordinary person. Accommodations reflect the uniqueness of the property also.
There are three bedrooms, with more time in the manufacture of Adobe (the ready in November 2014 should). Two houses, Hornbill oriole and on the ridge on the back of the building sits. Instead of destroying nature to build houses, Savio and Pirkko designed to be built around it.
If the storage area, they found that huge boulders were part of the landscape. Instead of eliminating them, have the rocks to elements inside the houses. The cottages are so it really divine surrounded by nature and vegetation feeling.
The other house, Sunbird, located on the edge of a rice field steps from the tranquil backwaters and pool.
The cottages are named after local birds. While I was there on a Sunbird built a nest outside her house the same name. To my delight, saw a hornbill flying overhead.
What is truly inspiring Savio and Pirkko went to stay environmentally friendly. Compost and recycle, degradable cleaning agents of biological, cooking with organic ingredients, heat water with solar panels and used building materials recovery.
As they say, the cabins have "more soul than a luxury." And that's what makes it so special. The private bathroom with rain shower outdoors are a highlight. During the monsoon season, it feels like rain water could be real. The supply of natural herbal soap, shampoo and hand wash, hand made by women in the country, is a detail (and the products so fragrant and healthy, feel enough to eat there).
