In the early days of the festival in memory of King Athachamayam of Kochi was held. He went to the temple in Tripunithura Vamanamoorthy Thrikkakara (also known as Thrikkakara temple). The era of the monarchy came to an end, but the festival is still celebrated in the splendor to mark the beginning of Onam. Includes a parade, accompanied by caparisoned elephants and floats, musicians and various traditional art forms of Kerala.
